That is highly unlikely. The reason why Sony disabled the 8th Synergistic Processing Element is because that way they could use processors with 1 defective SPE, therefore cutting costs by minimizing the number of unusable hardware coming out of their assembly lines.
That means that many PS3 systems out there have a defective and/or non-functional SPE. Unlocking it would only cause unpredictable system behavior and it wouldn't bring any advantage at all.
Come on guys... We all saw this coming! It was inevitable that Uncharted 2 would eventually get reviewed by Microsoft fanboys. In this case they gave it an 8 so that ODST wouldn't look so bad in comparison.
Move along. There's nothing to see here.
Hey look! It's i did not murder him trolling the PS3 section again. Long time no see. Why don't you crawl back to the 360 section? And take Soda Popinsky with you, while you're at it.
That's actually what emulators are all about: preserving games, not pirating them.
My Dreamcast died years ago, but that doesn't mean I can't play Jet Set Radio anymore. :)
Radiant Silvergun is an outstanding shooter but in my opinion, its spiritual sucessor Ikaruga is even better and quite possibly the best shooter ever. I find Ikaruga's polarity based gameplay to be much more enjoyable than RS's multiple weapons system. And the soundtrack is just awesome!
But you just can't go wrong with any game made by Treasure. Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Bangai-O... All great games.
The PS3 version looks better, runs in native 720P and it features more content. Sorry buddy, but gamers who only played this on the 360 are missing a lot. I don't remember co-op in the 360 version.
And I guess you didn't spot any difference between 360 and PS3 in Ghostbusters as well, did you?[\sarcasm] Damage control much?
EDIT: I think these screens (
I'm in a real dilemma now. I also prefer to have a physical copy of my games, but loading times are probably faster from the hard drive and you don't wear down the blu-ray drive. How should I buy the game?
They are impossible to achieve by people who actually have a life and a job.
Still fugly.
I owned both the Dreamcast and the PS2 back in 2001, so I know what I'm talking about. You also have to factor in the lack of consumer confidence in Sega's product (after the Sega CD/32X/Saturn), the lack of developer support (most notably EA) and the increasing number of competitors (Sega's console was killed by the PS2 as much as it was by the Gamecube and the Xbox).
And it just goes to show there's still a lot of interest in Sega's hardware. I really believe Sega should get back on the hardware business, but not with a new console in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, they should release a system that could play the entire catalogue of all the consoles released by Sega in the past. Games would be available trough download only in a Virtual Console/PSPgo style. Master System, Game Gear and Mega Drive emulation is extremely easy, they already own ...
This is a pointless comparison. If someone gave you a PS3 screenshot of the game and told you it was the 360 version, you would most probably believe him without even thinking twice. No need to start a flamewar over this one.
@ stanlee - Like when Digital Foundry decided FFXIII looked and played better on the 360. That wasn't biased at all. /sarcasm
Wiinsight... I've seen fanboys posting ignorant crap on this site all the time, but... Damn! You've managed to surprise me!
The best thing that can be said about Nintendo this generation is that they've been extremely successful in selling a video games console to non-gamers.
I was just asking to myself: "Where's the Kotaku article about the jump in Japanese PS3 sales? If it was the 360 they would be all over it."
But now I know... They were just searching for a negative spin to put on it.
That's right. In Europe, the Platinum line has been around since 1996. I still remember the first 6 games released under the "Platinum" brand: Tekken, Ridge Racer, Air Combat, Wipeout, Destruction Derby and Toshinden. Still have a pretty good memory for an old guy, don't I?
So do Tomb Raider - Underworld, Ninja Gaiden 2, a number of launch games (including Perfect Dark and PGR3) and the champion of sub-HD gaming Star Ocean 4, among other games.
Same goes for the PS3. There's a list here: http://forum.beyond3d.com/s...
I have every game on that list except for Far Cry 2 and I loved every single one of them. I was really surprised by how gorgeous Prince of Persia can be. And I'm glad that a sequel for Mirror's Edge is already on the works. Gives me hope that the future of gaming isn't filled with motion controls and casual games.
Perhaps I should pick up a copy of Far Cry 2...
I think you can get banned for posting a comment like that on this site. Besides no one likes people who do that. What exactly did you win for being first? The official title of "biggest spammer"?
ON TOPIC - No, the N64 was not better than the Dreamcast and certainly not better than the SNES. But I do like how the author avoided current gen consoles.
It's funny how Kotaku can now tell the difference so easily between in-game and CGI. Because three months ago they couldn't: http://kotaku.com/5284616/f...
